This may even but emo but for the first time, no one’s noticing, or cringing.
At IMN we strive to find and present to you the best representatives of the 99% of music that regularly flies under the radar. There’s a tonne of good music out there that goes unnoticed everyday and deserves our recognition and support. We don’t want big, corporate record labels calling all of the shots, effectively whittling down the music that gets to our ears into music that’s commercial and digestible to the masses. We want music to be unique. We want music to be fresh. We want music to be an effective business for anyone who’s got talent and deserves to be heard. It’s all about expression and that’s what we’re all about at IMN and that’s what the Music Hunter, in particular, is all about too. Finding you little golden nuggets we’ve sifted though to find. Though various social media sites over the next forever, we’re going to hunt for and present to you the best of what we can find.
This week we’ve dug deep into the r/music subreddit. Have a look and a click and a listen.
Goldroger – Sgt. Pepper (prod. Service & shoulder)
Doesn’t matter that it’s all in German. This cut’s got a beat that’s dope af and the visuals are creative and at times hilarious. Click. Play. Repeat.
The Crane Wives – High Horse | NPR Tiny Desk Contest 2017
If you’ve never heard of The Crane Wives, now may be the time. We’ve covered a couple of their past albums on IMN and have always had a soft spot for their wholesome, organic melodies and tunes that ultimately sweep you right off your feet. Here’s their submission for this year’s NPR Tiny Desk Concert Contest.
Remo Drive – Yer Killin’ Me
Holy fuck this is exactly what we all used to love about early 90’s alt-rock. This may even but emo but for the first time, no one’s noticing, or cringing. Simple but driving riffs that push the song right up in your face, anthemic lyrics that pronounce that perfect part of young angst that’s just so fun to get off your chest, and a big heaping of fun. Love the little breakdown at the end too.
eevee – beat tape 4
This’ got all of the flow. Click and float away. A perfect mixtape for your evening. All that needs to be said.
Sweaty Palms – The Illusionist
Who doesn’t love a good smack in the face with some grungy surf rock? OK. Not everyone. But if you do, this is exactly what your day called for. A little psychedelic to boot. This cut swirls around like a drunken tornado, sucking you up and casting you asunder.
Jarv – Slack-Jaw
Daaaammmmmmmnnnnnnnnn boooyyyyyyyy! This guy’s got mad flow. Eat it Busta.
